Appelwarder Spezialitaeten-Kate

The Appelwarder Spezialitaeten Kate is located in the north of Germany, producing delicacies since 1973. It was founded as family business and is now led by the second generation.

We are focused on the production of original Holsteiner Katenschinken, a ham smoked in a traditional thatched-roofed smoking cottage. The hams are characterized by their mild and unique taste, because here in the north of Germany they are traditionally smoked on beech wood. This mild taste made them popular all over Germany and also cross-border.

Of course we also produce a big variety of other delicacies such as boiled hams, dry and boiled sausages, pâtés and preserves in glass.

We deliver wholesale, retail and catering including export to Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, Slovakia, Poland and Great Britain.

We combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technology with view on sustainability, acting with consideration regarding utilization of resources and environment such as short distances in acquisition of soft commodity.

It hardly needs mentioning that our production is according to international food standards (IFS/BRC/HACCP).
