EuroShop 2011: Boasting over 106,000 visitors and 2,038 exhibitors biggest EuroShop of all times

The world’s biggest trade fair for retailers’ investment needs, EuroShop 2011, has drawn to a successful close in Düsseldorf on Wednesday (2 March 2011). The 2,038 exhibitors from 53 nations unanimously report good to excellent contacts and business deals. Add to this the very avid follow-up business.

CSM and Indorama Ventures in Alliance Discussion for PLA

CSM's subsidiary Purac and Indorama Ventures PLC (IVL) are in discussions to set up a Polylactic acid (PLA) manufacturing facility in Thailand, with an initial capacity of 10,000 tons per annum being raised to 100,000 tons per annum after developing application
specific grades. This product will be based on high purity (GMO free) Lactides produced by Purac. The Lactide monomers for the production of PLA will be sourced from Purac’s Lactides production plant in Rayong, Thailand as well as from other Purac sites.

This year, Ardo is investing once again in renewable energy, in particular a fermentation plant.

In processing vegetables, plant by-products are produced (mainly vegetable waste). This waste is converted into biogas by anaerobic fermentation.

Cargill set to trade with Russia

Approval of Cargill's Guelph operation (Est. 51) will translate into more Canadian beef being sold into the Russian market. According to Cargill this will be a much needed boost for Eastern beef cattle producers.

Company officials confirmed that effective immediately, Russian regulatory authorities have recognised their application for certification. Cargill will now work diligently with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to facilitate the trade of beef and related products.
